I Will Follow You Into The Dark

I have always been a fan of the band Deathcab For Cutie. I used to love watching music videos when I was younger to see the director/musician's vision and how it went along with the lyrics I had listened to over and over again. Thank God for the internet and YouTube for resurrecting the availability to watch music videos. All MTV, VH1, and CMT show anymore are reality TV shows having almost nothing to do with music.

One of my friends showed me this music video that someone made for a Deathcab song. I had heard the song but after seeing this video it made me see the song in a new way. It was also on an episode of Scrubs a couple of weeks ago. Now I love the song even more and learned how to decently play it on the guitar. I have included the lyrics at the bottom of the page. I suggest watching the video and just listening before looking at the lyrics. Be advised - it is kind of sad but touching at the same time.

Death Cab For Cutie:

I Will Follow You Into The Dark

Love of mine,
Someday you will die,
But I'll be close behind,
I'll follow you into the dark.

No blinding light
Or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight,
Waiting for the hint of a spark.

If heaven and hell decide,
That they both are satisfied,
Illuminate the "no's" on their vacancy signs,
If there's no-one beside you when your soul embarks,
Then I'll follow you into the dark.

In Catholic school,
As vicious as roman rule,
I got my knuckles bruised,
By a lady in black
And I held my tongue, as she told me "son,
Fear is the heart of love",
So I never went back.

If heaven and hell decide, that they both are satisfied,
Illuminate the "no's" on their vacancy signs,
If there's no-one beside you when your soul embarks,
Then I'll follow you into the dark.

You and me, have seen everything to see,
From Bangkok to Calgary,
And the soles of your shoes
Are all worn down, the time for sleep is now,
it's nothing to cry about,
Cause we'll hold each other soon,

In the blackest of rooms.

If heaven and hell decide, that they both are satisfied,
Illuminate the "no's" on their vacancy signs,
If there's no-one beside you when your soul embarks,
Then I'll follow you into the dark.
Then I'll follow you into the dark.
